Amalgam-Free Fillings & Crowns

Our white composite fillings are amalgam-free and are effective for filling in and repairing areas of enamel lost due to decay. You should have damaged teeth repaired as soon as possible. We remove the infected areas and seal the tooth, preventing further damage. Fillings also restore strength and structure to a tooth, helping you comfortably bite and chew normally.

At Modern Family Dentistry, we only use the most up-to-date, tooth-colored composite resins that require minimal tooth preparation. This helps preserve the more of your healthy, natural tooth structure. For larger cavities, significant wear, and damage, our dentist may recommend porcelain crowns.

A crown is a restoration designed to cover the entire structure of a badly damaged or worn tooth. In doing so, they help restore the tooth to its original shape and size. Crowns look, feel, and function exactly like a natural and healthy tooth.

Fixed Bridges

A dental bridge is an excellent way to replace two or more missing teeth in a row. There are several types of bridges, and our dentist will discuss the best option for your case. Traditional bridges consist of two crowns that go over neighboring teeth on either side of the gap. Dental bridges not only help fill the gap between remaining teeth, they also help restore bite and keep surrounding teeth in place.

Full & Partial Dentures

Full dentures are used when all your teeth are missing, while partial dentures are recommended when some healthy natural teeth remain. A partial denture helps to fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from shifting out of alignment.

Dentures are impressively durable appliances and can last years with proper care. The American Dental Association recommends your dentures be replaced every five to seven years. Periodic readjustment and repairs are common due to normal wear.

Dentures offer the following benefits:

  • Complete dentures help to replace all teeth in the upper and lower jaws
  • Partial dentures help replace multiple lost teeth
  • Dentures help enhance your smile and facial features
  • Dentures help improve chewing, speech, and digestion

Root Canal Therapy

During root canal therapy, our dentist carefully removes the pulp inside your tooth, cleans, disinfects, and reshapes the root's canals, and then places a dental filling or crown to seal it from further harm.

Extractions

While most teens and some adults get their wisdom teeth removed, there are many other reasons we may recommend tooth extraction. Excessive tooth decay, crowding, and infection may require tooth removal. Additionally, one or several teeth may need an extraction to assist with orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Wilson performs wisdom teeth extraction in-office through a relatively quick outpatient procedure using local anesthesia. We offer nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation when needed.

Dental Implants

3D render of dental implant modelIf you're missing one or more natural teeth, meet with our dentist to see if you're a good candidate for dental implants. Dental implants provide a natural and long-lasting tooth replacement option because they become a permanent part of your jawbone. Successful implant treatment and results rely on good oral and overall health, as well as a fully developed and healthy jawbone. Dental implants consist of body-safe titanium that fuses naturally with living tissue and bone. When surgically inserted into the jawbone, they help replace missing tooth roots and teeth.

Dental Implant Treatment

If our dentist determines that you're a good candidate for dental implants, he will schedule the procedure to take place in our dental office. The process of getting dental implants typically takes several months to a year to complete. It also involves the following four phases:

  1. Planning – Our dentist performs a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and jaw to determine if you have enough jawbone to support implants. Our dentist may recommend procedures such as bone grafting to prepare you for the procedure if you have underlying dental conditions such as gum disease or insufficient bone.
  2. Placing the implant – Surgical placement of your implants is performed with precision and skill. After placement, implants can integrate into the jawbone for a period of three to six months.
  3. Resting – During this time, you need to allow your gum tissue and bone to heal and grow around the implant post.
  4. Restoration attachment – Once healing are complete, we invite you back to our office so our dentist can attach your customized crown, bridge, or denture to your implants.

Full Mouth Restoration Including Orthodontics

Image of close up of woman smiling while sitting in dental chairIf your dental or oral health needs require multiple treatments, full-mouth restoration may be your best solution. Full smile restoration involves creating a comprehensive plan that uses several treatments and procedures to help restore your smile completely.

With this all-inclusive treatment, we can combine as little or as many treatments necessary to get your smile back to its best health, function, and beauty. Although full mouth reconstruction is an investment, the benefits it can provide include lasting overall health and confidence.

Traditional Braces & Invisalign Orthodontics

Image of Invisalign clear bracesBoth braces and Invisalign are designed to straighten teeth while enhancing your smile and oral health. Braces use metal brackets that are cemented to your teeth. A metal arch wire is woven through the brackets, and sometimes, rubber bands are used to help apply the necessary pressure. Traditional braces are a successful and reliable way to correct moderate to severe forms of misalignment.

Invisalign helps align your teeth more discreetly. This orthodontic system uses virtually invisible trays made of smooth, BPA-free clear plastic. They are made to fit your unique smile exactly and gently move your teeth. Invisalign is ideal for treating minor to mild forms of orthodontic issues.

Treating Gum Disease to Restore Oral Health

There are different ways to treat gum disease. Your care depends on your general oral health, the stage of the disease, and how well you responded to treatment. It is important to treat gum disease to ensure there is a healthy foundation that will support your restorative dental needs. Our procedures range from nonsurgical procedures that control bacterial growth to surgical procedures that restore supportive tissues.

Treatments for gum disease that don't require surgery include:

Scaling and root planning - This procedure involves deep-cleaning under a local anesthetic. Our dentist removes all plaque and tartar from above and below your gum line, cleaning away (scaling) and smoothing the rough spots on the tooth's root (planing). We can also use dental laser technology to help reduce gum pockets and promote proper healing.

Maintenance - Depending on the severity of your gum disease, our dentist may recommend maintenance cleanings with powerful ARESTIN antibiotics three to four times a year.

Some treatments for gum disease are surgical. They include flap surgery/pocket reduction surgery, bone grafts, soft tissue grafts, guided tissue regeneration, and more. For many patients, the nonsurgical procedure of scaling and root planing is all that is required to treat gum disease. However, our dentist may recommend surgery for severe cases or when the tissue around the teeth is unhealthy and cannot be restored with nonsurgical options.
